The company Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) produces not only motherboards, but also ready-made computers of very different form factor: mini-PCs, laptops, monoblocks, tablets. Perhaps they are not as well known to the Russian user as similar devices of other brands, but this defect is easily eliminated. Actually, today we are just going to get acquainted with the new mini-PC ECS development. The LIVA X model, which got to us in the test lab, has a predecessor, the LIVA mini PC, with a slightly different design and less productive hardware platform.
The Mini PC comes in a compact black cardboard box, which contains all the necessary information about the characteristics and capabilities of the device. Inside, in addition to the computer itself, the following was found:
- power adapter with fixed power cable and three removable plugs of different standards;
- VESA metal fastening with a set of screws;
- CD with drivers and software;
- a printed guide to getting started in Russian.

The LIVA X model is based on the Intel Bay Trail-M platform, and more specifically, on the Intel Celeron N2808 processor. It is produced using 22-nanometer technology and built on the Silvermont microarchitecture. This is a very economical dual-core SoC processor, running at a base clock speed of 1.58 GHz, but capable of overclocking to 2.25 GHz if necessary. The processor has only 1 MB of cache memory of the second level, but the maximum value of the dissipated thermal energy (TDP) for Intel Celeron N2808 is only 4.3 W, which makes it possible to install it in the most compact devices, one of which is LIVA X. Recall , Earlier similar processors Intel referred to the Atom family, but just in time with the release of Bay Trail decided to call them Celeron, so that Atom remained only in mobile devices.
The device is delivered in different versions depending on the amount of RAM and built-in storage. We were tested for the sample in the maximum configuration. It is impossible to change it yourself: all LIVA X modules are soldered on the motherboard and can not be replaced. RAM is represented by four modules DDR3L-1333 SK Hynix H5TC8G63AMR, which have a total capacity of 4 GB. This is the maximum possible amount of RAM, with which the built-in controller works.
The drive uses the Toshiba THGBMBG9D8KBAIG eMMC module with a capacity of 64 GB. The younger version of LIVA X has only 2 GB of RAM, and the eMMC-module has a capacity of 32 GB. In addition, there is an empty mSATA slot on the LIVA X motherboard, into which an optional SSD module can be installed.
Graphics from LIVA X is integrated into the SoC – discrete adapter for this mini-PC for obvious reasons is not provided. The Intel HD Graphics core operates at 313 MHz in nominal mode and can be accelerated to 792 MHz. Nothing particularly outstanding, it does not differ. One can only note the possibility of simultaneous connection of two displays, for which the HDMI and D-Sub video outputs are placed on the mini-PC, as well as working with DirectX 11, Intel Quick Sync Video and Intel Wireless Display technologies.
